Google Links Personal Email Data to Web Search Activity

After buying the advertising network DoubleClick approximately nine years ago, Google said it would make maintaining web surfers’ privacy a chief concern. However, it has since changed its policy, saying that information gathered from online activity can now be combined with information gathered from email and other sign-in services. So reports ProPublica.

Google, for its part, maintains that it doesn’t use email keywords when gathering information and that individuals must opt in to let the company combine the different types of data.
