Turner, who had served as Red Bull’s brand marketing head, is the company’s highest ranking black executive, according to A.list.
Over the summer, Red Bull fired its North American CEO, CMO and another top executive and “dissolved the cultural marketing divisions that organized events like live music festivals,” according to an article from Business Insider.
The firings followed the leaking of an offensive internal slide, which contained a map that described Africa as a “zoo” and India as “call centers.” It also described the Middle East as “evil doers.” In June, more than 300 Red Bull employees sent a letter to leadership questioning the firm’s silence on BLM and requested details on the firm’s plans to support the Black community.
The fired execs had been working on Red Bull’s diversity initiative and plans to reach out to the Black community.
