Crypto.com’s CMO on Whether Fans Will Embrace Staple Center’s New Name

In mid-November Crypto.com, a Singapore-based crypto exchange company, announced it acquired the naming rights for the famous Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers, for $700 million.

cryptodotcomThe arena will be renamed Crypto.com Arena, starting on Christmas. However, to many fans, it will always be the Staples Center. So reports Lebron Wire.

Crypto.com CMO Steven Kalifowitz said recently that people will call the arena whatever that want and “we’ll be OK with that” as its “part of a broader strategy of getting people to know who we are.”

He noted that for now the company is happy for people to say Crypto.com is the firm that took over the Staples Center. But, he expects change to come gradually, noting that people are attached to the name “the Staples Center” and not necessarily Staples the company.

“People resist change. I realize that… People will change when they’re ready.”
