Cannabis Marketers Turning to the Metaverse

Cannabis companies are increasingly turning to the metaverse to promote their products. So reports The Wall Street Journal.

cannabis 1382955 1920They’re setting up shops in the metaverse, selling actual nonfungible tokens and merchandise that buyers can receive in the real world (outside the metaverse). Many Cannabis marketers say the metaverse may also offer them the opportunity to talk up their products more freely.

Lisa Buffo, CEO of the Cannabis Marketing Association, says regulators haven’t “wrapped their head around” the wide-open space offered in Web3. Some expect to be able to sell cannabis directly via the metaverse within five years.
