Kelman, who replaces Rupal Shah Hollenbeck, had served as vice president of worldwide marketing for AWS for six years. Prior to AWS, Kelman worked at Salesforce in a number of marketing leadership roles. Before that, he worked at MicroStrategy and Ventaso, a start-up he co-founded.
Hollenbeck, a former Intel executive, had been with Oracle less than a year at the time of his recent departure. Rachel Thornton, vice president at AWS, has been named to replace Kelman at AWS. She had been involved in field and partner marketing there.
The hiring of Kelman is significant as Oracle and AWS are rivals. Oracle lags behind AWS in the cloud infrastructure race.
