CMO Hiring Picks Up, But Fewer Women Landing the Role

Executive recruiter Russell Reynolds Associates said that CMO hiring picked up in 2020 in North America, especially during the back half of the year. Yet, fewer of those jobs went to women. So reports Marketing Dive.

Female executiveOverall, CMO appointments jumped 25% in 2020. Of those hires, 45% of CMOs were women, a drop of five percentage points from the year before, according to Russell Reynolds.
Interestingly, many firms struggle with CMO succession, as 84% of CMOs are external hires. That is a five percentage point increase from the previous six months.
