The move is part of a realignment of Nissan’s senior leadership team. Before the promotion, Witherspoon served as vice president of marketing communications and media at Nissan. She was named to that role in April 2019.
In addition to taking on new responsibilities as CMO, including leading the customer journey, data innovation and lead management, Witherspoon will maintain her role as leader of Nissan’s marketing communications and media.
Witherspoon will still report to Michael Colleran, SVP of U.S. marketing and sales. She previously held roles with INFINITI USA, Volvo, BMW North America, and Mercedes-Benz USA.
